Much of Andalucía was put on yellow alert on Wednesday as a cold front approached, forcing temperatures to fall more than ten degrees in places, bringing with it snowfall in several inland areas.

The Aemet Meteorological Centre in Malaga registered 7 degrees at its weather centre at Malaga Airport at 9am on Wednesday morning, though the windchill factor made this feel like 3 or 4 degrees.

Antequera, where a yellow weather warning for low temperatures was in place, saw temperatures fall to -2ºC in the early hours of Wednesday, with thermometers showing 2ºC at 9am.

Temperatures fell as the day progressed, however, ending the day with 4 degrees on the coast and lows of -4ºC and -5ºC inland. This fall in temperature brought with it snow, mostly in inland areas.

Yunquera was the first municipality in the province to experience snowfall. In the Sierra Bermeja, the snow was able to settle. Similarly, white patches appeared in the Montes de Málaga and Fuente de la Reina. It also started snowing at El Torcal in Antequera and the Sierra de las Nieves.

Snow also fell in Nerja, Cártama, Coín, Olías and Alhaurín de la Torre, but didn't settle so easily. In the city of Malaga at around lunchtime, there was a brief period of sleet.

The yellow weather warning for Malaga province will remain in place until midnight.source surinenglish
