San Fermín takes hold of Pamplona

Despite a demonstration during which protesters covered themselves in fake blood, the annual San Fermín festival went ahead with its usual vigour on Wednesday with the traditional ‘chupinazo’ (start rocket) which signalled the start of nine days of celebration in the streets of the city of Pamplona.
In front of the city hall, revellers brandished their red scarves before covering each other in wine.
On Thursday morning was the first of the traditional bull runs through the streets - something which will happen every day at 8am until the festival’s end.source surinenglish
