For the last few days, residents of the Bellavista urbanisation in Benalmádena have been living alongside a plague of processionary caterpillars. Despite them being most common during spring, they have already made their presence known, leaving residents fearful of taking their pets outside.

The town hall insists that fumigation in public areas has already taken place and that an inspection has been ordered for the area.

Infestations of these caterpillars can be devastating for pine trees, but contact with them can also pose danger to animals and children.source surinenglish
