The Palacio de los Deportes in Murcia played host to the final national competition of the year, the Spanish Rhythmic Gymnastics Championship. A total of 1,133 gymnasts from 15 different autonomous regions travelled to Murcia to take part in the competition, with 113 gymnastics clubs competing for the ultimate prize in each of the various age categories. One such prize was awarded to the under-12 team of the Gimnasia Rítmica Marbella club as they were crowned Spanish champions.
The Marbella team, consisting of Iside Montaldo, Jéssica Sánchez, Priscila Sarria, Nolita Sapraliyeva and Kirala González, had a phenomenal three days of competition, leading the way after every exercise en route to 10,900 points and a deserved gold medal.
Rítmica Málaga and Aldetor were the other two clubs from the province that took part in the competition. Senior gymnasts from the former club performed a routine with five ribbons to qualify for the final, eventually finishing fifth.
The Rítmica Málaga under-12 team made their debut in the championship and acquitted themselves well, securing 12th position again with a five ribbon routine.
Gymnasts from Aldetor’s junior team put in a good performance on the first day, but mistakes on the second cost them and they were unable to qualify for the final, finishing in ninth place.source surinenglish
