Hidrosur network at the Junta de Andalucía, 126 mm of rain fell in the city between 3am and 5am, alone. The weather station in the port measured 153 mm in total during the storm, which included thunder, lightning and hail.

The residential area of Cerrado de Calderón was among the worst hit. The storm caused the collapse of around 60 metres of Calle Flamencos, taking a vehicle and its occupants with it. The two students, returning from the carnival festivities in the city centre, were able to escape from their vehicle with only minor injuries, after it had rolled around fifteen metres down the hillside. Several parked cars were also affected by the subsidence.

Several roads were closed for some time in the area on Sunday morning. One family had to be evacuated after a wall fell on their home in Calle Andaluces, also in Cerrado de Calderón.

Meanwhile the hailstorm left a thick white covering on the beaches of La Caleta and Pedregalejo.

In the city centre, Saturday night revellers were surprised by the heavy rain that flooded several streets. Flood water reached the bonnets of the around 25 cars still parked in the Plaza de la Marina underground car park.
