Malaga airport registers 11.3 million passengers in eight months, a rise of 1.5 million

Malaga airport has been providing joy to the tourism sector every month, with both major and minor areas of growth combining to generate nearly 1.5 million more visitors in the first eight months compared to the same period in 2015.
According to figures released by Aena on Monday, 11.3 million passengers passed through the airport from January to August this year. This figure is even more impressive considering that during the same period last year, the airport had broken records in each of June, July and August and even then did the figure not surpass ten million.
This year, Malaga airport has seen around two million passengers in August alone, a rise of 12.4 per cent on last year.
The second part of the industry’s growth is in the number of flights. The runways have registered, in the first eight months of the year, 8,739 more flights than in the same timescale last year, a rise of 11.7 per cent. In August alone, the airport processed 14,097 aircraft. In fact, on 20 August, there was a total of 506 aircraft landing and taking off. However, the day with the most passengers was the 6th, with 69,784.
Of all the passengers recorded in August, 1,689,400 travelled to a foreign city, an increase of 13.6 per cent, while 255,527 opted for a national connection, a rise of 3.9 per cent.
The United Kingdom continues to be the most popular destination with 676,690 passengers followed by Germany with 155,987.source surinenglsih
