sabel Pantoja’s time behind bars has drawn to a close after the singer was granted conditional parole on Tuesday.
The new sentence, confirmed by the Prison Supervision Court, will be effective from 2 March and mean that the 59-year-old has freedom to travel around Spain for work purposes.
A revision to her ‘third degree’ detention (in which she was required to spend five nights a week in the Alcalá de Guadaíra women’s prison) was also ratified, meaning that until March, she only has to report back to the prison every 15 days.
Since 21 November 2014, Pantoja has been serving a two-year prison sentence for being an accomplice of her former partner Julián Muñoz in money laundering. On 13 December 2015, she was granted semi-liberty but was refused conditional release 15 days later.
However, now that she has served two thirds of her sentence and meets all of the criteria for ‘favourable social reinsertion’, her release has been approved.
The judge imposed the condition that the singer must remain at her current home in Medina Sidonia (Cadiz). She must also place herself at the disposition of the Jerez de la Frontera penitentiary social services department and report to them when requested.source surinenglish
