Changes at Marbella beaches this summer

Marbella council has presented its plans for the town’s beaches during the next summer season. Subject to approval from the regional authorities, the changes will come into action from 20 March until September.
The council aims to repair El Pinillo dune, an area of 73,000 square metres badly damaged by use. From the summer onwards, all installations will be removed including a chiriniguito and sun bed area. The only utility permitted on the beach will be a toilet.
In Marbella’s other dune areas, designated parking areas will be introduced to stop cars parking on the dunes. Further action will consist of removing invasive plants and replacing them with native species.
A total of five assisted bathing points will be installed in El Rodeíto (one in each bay) as well as at El Faro, La Bajadilla, San Pedro and Pinomar beaches.
Serious bathers will be able to swim lengths to their heart’s content in a saltwater pool at El Cable beach where buoys will mark out lanes within a 40 by 100 metre area.source surinenglish
