A cold front has arrived in Malaga province and has brought with it both low temperatures and, in some parts, snow. The upper Axarquía (Alfarnate and Alfarnatejo) and the Sierra de las Nieves mountains have been covered by a white blanket of snow, with the Conejeras area also being affected, albeit to a lesser degree.
For the first time this winter, people are taking to the streets dressed in scarves and gloves after the temperatures have fallen to close to zero.
In the Sierra de la Nieves, people continue to hike to its highest peak, the Torrecilla, to admire the changing landscape while in the upper Axarquía, the towns of Alfarnate and Alfarnetejo woke up to more than 10 centimetres of snowfall.
Meanwhile, a yellow weather warning has been issued across the region for high winds, especially in Ronda, the Guadalhorce valley, the Costa del Sol and the Axarquía. Winds could reach up to 80km/h. On Sunday night, the fire department was called out to around 30 incidents along the Costa del Sol (in particular in Vélez-Málaga, Rincón de la Victoria and Torrox) because of fallen trees or branches, as well as traffic signs and lights affected by the inclement weather.source surinenglish
