There’s a taste of Andalucía at this week’s Going Global export and business investment fair in London, thanks to a delegation from Malaga city hall and Agencia Idea, the region’s agency for innovation and development.
Going Global is Europe’s leading event for firms wishing to expand internationally, export products or set up overseas operations and has been taking place on Thursday and Friday this week at the Olympia exhibition centre.
Malaga’s presence is part of the city’s programme of events organised by its employment and business development department, led by Mar Martín Rojo, who is in London this week with the mayor Francisco de la Torre, as well as Marc Sanderson, director of International Economic Development at city hall, and department official Isabel Pascual.
To coincide with the business fair the Malaga delegation has organised a full and varied agenda of business meetings which they are confident will bear fruit.
“The atmosphere here is very positive,” said MartínRojo. “These are good times for Malaga and people perceive and value that. I’m sure we’ll attract new businesses,” she added.
At a meeting onWednesday the mayor pointed out that the council has been carrying out initiatives to attract foreign investment since 1996, however the new scenario presented by Brexit has led the city to expand its activity in this field to offer a solution to British firms wanting to keep a foothold in the EU.
The presence of Malaga and Andalucía has been hard to miss at the Going Global fair. SUR inEnglish is there to help the Malaga area in its bid to inform British business owners that this is the ideal location in which to set up a new business or expand an existing one.
The special investment supplement - also inserted inside this edition - is being distributed at the Malaga stand, highlighting the benefits of the area, such as the Andalusian Technology Park, the university, the good connections as well as the international community and mild climate.
A special ‘Invest in Malaga’ edition of SUR inEnglish will also be inserted into the London business newspaper City A.M. on Tuesday.source surinenglish
