Sony Pictures has announced that it is to use the village of Júzcar for the launch of its third Smurfs movie, as it did with parts one and two.
Júzcar, in the Serranía de Ronda, has been painted Smurf blue ever since what was once a typical white Andalusian village was selected by the film's producers for the launch of their first Smurfs movie in 2011.
This week the provincial government has announced a 300,000-euro scheme to strengthen the area as a tourist attraction. Projects include the creation of more parking spaces and better signing.
Another initiative is the creation of an app with which users can spot hidden Smurfs around the village.
The announcement was made on Monday by the president of the provincial government Elías Bendodo, the mayor of Júzcar, Francisco Lozano, and Sony Pictures promotions manager Mónica Pérez.source surinenglish
